Define cost parameters for a tool

This function is optional, but if used, the information will be updated in the Product costing model during the creation of a manufacturing order. The system will automatically calculate the applicable cost of the tool per product using the applicable equation defined in the Product costing model.

  1. Select the Work with tools/fixtures menu item.
  2. You access Work with tools and fixtures. Select the tool for which you want to define cost parameters and click Change.
  3. You access Tools and fixtures maintenance. Complete the following cost-related fields:
  4. New cost from date
    This field is optional, but can be used to define the new date from which any new costs shall be used.
    Tool cost fixed
    Enter the fixed cost of the tool. This fixed cost is the purchase cost divided by the estimated life span of the tool.
    Tool cost variable
    Enter the variable tool cost. This variable cost is the value of the tool multiplied with the quantity of the product you manufacture.
    New cost fixed
    This field is only mandatory if you entered a New cost from date. Enter the new fixed tool cost.
    New cost variable
    This field is only mandatory if you entered a New cost from date. Enter the new variable tool cost.

    Click OK and exit the routine.

    When you create a manufacturing order the system will automatically calculate the cost, based on the information you defined above, using the applicable Product costing equation for the tools.
