Set up a bill of material for a produced item

  1. Select the Work with structures menu item.
  2. On the initial panel, click Add.
  3. You access Work with structures, Structure header. Complete the following fields:
  4. Item
    Enter an item for which you wish to create an item structure. Note: The item you enter must be defined in the Item file as item type 1 (end product), 2 (sub-assembly) or 8 (budget item).
    Structure quantity
    Enter a quantity indicating the relationship between the structure quantity and the component quantities/operation times. The base structure quantity is 1. The structure quantity can be used to adjust component quantities in order to avoid decimals in the bill of material. Note: This field must be numeric with three decimal places. It only contains positive values.
    Maintenance option
    Indicate what is to be created in the item structure by ticking one of the following: Material, Operations/Item criteria, Alternative/co-product, Header text or No maintenance. For this task, tick Material.

    Note: You can also enter Structure unit for the item as an alternative unit.

    Click OK.

  5. You access Structure maintenance, Bill of material. Complete the following fields:
  6. Seq no
    Enter the sequence number of the component.
    Component item
    Enter the item that is to be included as a component in the bill of material.
    Quantity
    Enter the quantity of the components.

    See the Panel help for details about the remaining fields. You can enter several components at the same time. Click OK when you have completed the fields.

    The system updates the information and clears the panel. Click Back to view the added components.

    If you want to add more components to the bill of material, click Add. If you want to add more detailed information to the component, click Add detail.
