Restrictions may be in place on the sale of either certain items, or to certain customers.
Severity of restriction
The severity of the restriction can vary; all dependent on how the system was set up. It controls how you are allowed to proceed with the order/quotation processing. The following are applicable:
Code | Description | Other information |
---|---|---|
1 | Sale is not allowed | Entry of order line will be stopped.
For DI orders created in batch lost sales statistics will automatically be created when a sale is lost due to a sales restriction with this severity code if the following is true:
The received DI line will be deleted from the DI Interface. For manually entered orders (i.e. interactive orders), the user can manually trigger the creation of lost sales statistics during order line entry if the following is true:
This manual triggering is done on the Order lines and Order lines, main info panels via the Function 35 (Manual lost sales tracking) from the Function list. The user will be prompted to enter the reason for the lost sale. |
2 | Order will be held | Entry of order line can proceed but the order will be held. |
3 | Order line will be held | Those lines not held can be processed. |
4 | Warning | A warning message will be displayed but entry of order line can proceed. |
With some restrictions a flag could also have been set up to automatically re-check a held order line once released.
How you are flagged
If a sales restriction is in place on the sale of a certain item or a certain customer you will be flagged during sales order entry/quotation entry. This could be done through any of the following methods:
- An alert message will be sent to you via any one of the following, depending on how the system was set up:
- an email
- break message in your active session
- sms text message
- fax
- An IBS Enterprise system message will be displayed at the bottom of your screen indicating that a restriction is in place.
Simulating a sale to determine if a restriction is in place
During order/quotation entry you have the option to simulate a sale to determine if a sales restriction will apply to it. See Simulate a sale to determine if a restriction will apply.
