The following describes how to run a simulation of losses based on open A/R documents. One of the main advantages with this is that you can check the result before update and also control that all exchange rates exist.
Note: If you do not run a simulation, and there are errors (missing exchange rates), then the update will not be performed. You will instead get an error list. Update is only performed when all the applicable exchange rates exist.
- Select the Realise A/R exchange rate gains/losses menu item.
- You access the A/R realisation of exchange rates panel where you make your selections. The following fields can be used for selections and control when you run a simulation:
- Select to period
- Enter the last accounting period for selecting documents. A document must have been entered before or in this period in order to be included.
- Transaction currency
- Enter the EMU currencies for which you want to realise exchange rate differences. At least one currency must be entered. A maximum of 10 different currencies can be selected at the same time. If you prefer, you can run this routine several times selecting different currencies.
- Simulation
- YES is defaulted which applies here since we are to run a simulation before update.
- Realise gains
- YES is defaulted meaning that you want to calculate gains. Here, set to NO since we are to calculate losses only.
- Realise losses
- YES is defaulted meaning that you want to calculate losses which applies here.
Click OK to start the simulation. The system validates all exchange rates and displays a message should any exchange rates for the selected currencies be missing. Tip: You can check the result based on the A/R exchange rate realisation simulation list before you do the update.
Caution: The simulation run only displays the situation of open documents when the routine is run. If you want to receive the exact same result as you did for the simulation, then you should proceed with the update immediately without introducing any new documents (payments) into the system. The update will take the actual situation into consideration not looking at any prior simulation run.
