Work with trend codes, Header (INVD47001)

Related topics

This panel displays the IDs of the trend analyses that were printed and updated to an (interim) work file in the Print trend analysis/updates routine.

Printing a trend analysis permits you to identify all item/warehouse combinations that show a trend pattern in demand. You can accurately forecast the demand by identifying these items. The information from a trend analysis is used when a forecast is calculated for an item.

All items that met the prerequisites and selection criteria from the Print trend analysis/updates routine are included in the analysis.

This program allows you to maintain the trend analyses (i.e. change some information and/or delete any items that you do not want to update) before updating the Item file/Inventory management file. You perform the actual update via the Update option in this file.

Options

Change Select this option to change the description of the trend analysis and/or the remarks.
Delete Select this option to delete the trend analysis.
Details Select this option to view/work with details. The New trend code field on Line details level for all retrieved items is defaulted with YES. This means that when you select the Update option, the Trend code field for all retrieved items will be updated with YES on the Item file maintenance, Inventory management panel and you will be able to use the results from the trend analysis to forecast demand for the item/warehouse combination. If you do not wish to use this type of information to forecast demand, drill down to detail level and change the code to NO for the applicable items. The Trend code field for those items will be updated with NO in the Item file/Inventory management file when you select the Update option.
Update Select this option to update the trend code in the Item file/Inventory management file.

Update criteria

The items that are included in the analysis and can be selected for update have met the following update criteria defined for the trend analysis in the Print trend analysis/updates routine.

Number of periods
Displays the number of historical periods that are included in the analysis. The system starts with the most recent historical period and counts back until it includes the number of periods that you requested. You can go as far back as one year. This does not include the present period. See the example in the Change percentage field below.
Incr/decr in periods
Displays the number of periods included in the analysis for which there must be an increase or decrease in demand in order for items to be considered trend items. See the example in the Change percentage field below.
Change percentage
Displays the percentage deviation for the analysis. The system needs to know how much higher or lower the demand must be in order for the items to be considered trend items.

Example:
If the Number of periods field contains value 10, the Incr/decr in periods field contains value 4, and the Change percentage field contains value 5, then the items that are included in the analysis are those that show a 5% increase or decrease in demand (as compared to the preceding forecast period) in four of the last ten periods.
